Heather Miceli is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Office of Curricular and Pedagogical Innovation at the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) where she is working on a project examining the implementation of OER and the outcomes for students as a result of that implementation. She was formerly a lecturer at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island, and was a contingent faculty member at a few different institutions for 15 years. She taught the undergraduate general education science course in RWU’s CORE Curriculum for 9 years. As a RWU OER Faculty Fellow, Heather incorporated a renewable Open Pedagogy Project into her course that spanned over 5 years - students created and/or edited websites on topics relevant to their interests. She is very interested in the impacts Open Education Practices/Open Pedagogy can have on student achievement, but also how those practices can impact student confidence and anxiety in science courses. She is also interested in alternative assessment strategies and used ungrading in her courses for about 4 years. She serves on the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE) OER Advisory Committee and was also an OER Research Fellow with the Open Education Group from 2019-2020.
